UNDER ONE ROOF - GIKUYU PROVERBS CONSOLIDATED By Gerald Wanjohi
All the collections of Gīkūyū Proverbs were written by different people at different times, without anyone of them taking time to look at what the previous collector had done. As a result, there are many repetitions in these collections, making the research monotonous and tedious. The author's idea of bringing Gīkūyū proverbs under one umbrella or roof, therefore, was born out of the desire to overcome the difficulties.
This new collection of proverbs (1821 proverbs) draws mainly from G. Barra's 1000 Kikuyu Proverbs, Ngūmbū Njūrūri's Gīkūyū Proverbs, T.G Benson's Kikuyu - English Dictionary and Stanley Gathīgīra's Ng'ano na Thimo Cia Ūgīkūyū.
